Ile de Ré Fine Island - Un voyage, des sens

Ile de Ré Fine Island - A journey of the senses

Ile de Ré, an island in its own right giving life to a unique cognac!

Located in the middle of France’s Atlantic coast, three kilometres from the port of La Rochelle, Île de Ré stretches 32 kilometres in length with a total land area of around 8500 hectares.

It is oriented west-northwest.

The average altitude of the island is just five meters above sea level, but more importantly, around 20 percent of the land area sits below sea level. These low-lying areas play an important role in capturing and holding sea mists resulting in a special development of grapes grown on the island.

CAMUS Cognac Île de Ré Fine Island

CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island is a unique example of a single-cru Cognac with a distinctive aromatic profile, which is indisputably linked to its origin: smooth yet fresh and crisp, naturally iodine-rich, with typical marine notes.

Remember the wonderful feeling you have walking down the beach, breathing in clean, invigorating sea air? You will find all that, and so much more, in your Ile de Ré Fine Island: a very distinctive, very approachable, very pleasurable Cognac.

Thanks to its mild and dry climate, which is almost Mediterranean in nature and influenced by warm currents from the Gulf Stream, Île de Ré has, since ancient times, been home to charming strips of vineyards which are kissed by the sun and caressed by the ocean. An idyllic place between land and sea with a distinctive terroir. Over time, the island has come to be revered by those Cognac lovers who have discovered its unique charm.

Thanks to an exclusive collaboration with the Île de Ré Cooperative of Winemakers, CAMUS has defended the tradition of this island Cognac for almost 20 years. This unbreakable bond with the island, its terroir and its people, is honored by the name of CAMUS’ flagship product: Île de Ré Fine Island Cognac.

How to enjoy CAMUS Ile de Ré Fine Island?

1/ CAMUS Ile de Ré Fine Island cognac and oysters

Did you know? Cognac and oysters are a perfect match. CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island’s delicate marine character and hints of iodine perfectly accompany the salinity and minerality of this indulgent shellfish.

Pour 1cl of CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island directly on the oyster, using a dosing cup or a jigger and enjoy this unique pairing.

Perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks, CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island is also an excellent base spirit for delicious cocktails. Thanks to its unique marine profile, it is a perfect accompaniment to sour or sweet modifiers such as citrus juice or vermouth.

2/ CAMUS Ile de Ré Fine Island in cocktail - SIDECAR

The Sidecar is one of the most iconic Cognac-based cocktails in the history of mixology. Created in 1919 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, it has always been amongst the most popular cocktails in the best bars around the world. In this version, CAMUS Île de Ré brings in fresh iodine notes that perfectly match with the sour notes of lemon juice, while the traditional sugar element is replaced with salt from Île de Ré to enhance the Cognac’s inherent salinity.

3/ CAMUS Ile de Ré Fine Island in cocktail - FRENCH CONNECTION

One of the easiest cocktails in the world to prepare, yet a sophisticated drink that delivers much more than the sum of its parts, the French Connection is a 50:50 mix of Cognac to amaretto that makes for a stylish but sweet slow- sipper. In this version, the lively dry and subtly oaked palate of CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island pairs perfectly with the roasted notes of the amaretto.

CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island, a design, a 360° journey

The revamping of the CAMUS Île de Ré Fine Island pack aims to reinforce the communication of the unique flavor profile of this Cognac and its island origin. For this reimagining, CAMUS worked in collaboration with the Scottish design studio Breeze Creative, already named Design Agency of the Year 2020 at Whisky Magazine’s prestigious Icons of Whisky Awards. The island’s most symbolic locations, which are key to the Cognac’s production and character, are visually represented on the box and take shape through a 360-degree journey that allows consumers to understand the provenance and importance of this iconic Cognac at a glance.

The fine line of the design is enlivened by vibrant colors and materials that realistically reproduce the typical ‘mirror effect’ which can be seen from the island, where the oceanic expanse seems to merge with the sky. The use of Kurz gold foil embellishes the design, giving both shine and thickness while selective embossing and debossing effects give depth to the image.

With its iconic flared shape, the bottle is accompanied by a label that reproduces the design of the box, with a horizontal orientation that completely covers the front side. The closure includes an elegant, laminated cork stopper that is decorated with a capsule which illustrates the fundamental symbols of the Cognac production process: the grape harvest, the distillation in pot stills and barrel ageing.
