Les Ateliers Camus have created cognacs as rare, exclusive, and unique as the novels of Jules Verne. Verne’s novel Five Weeks in a Balloon was first published in 1863, the same year that Maison Camus was founded, embarking on an endless spirituous adventure characterized by a taste for creativity and exploration.
To pay homage to the adventurous spirit that Maison Camus shares with Jules Verne, we would like to invite you to undertake an extraordinary voyage with three unique, limited-edition works of art. Along the way, you will discover a new collection of traveling cognacs – an unparalleled experience for the senses.
Let’s start the first leg of our voyage as we set out for L’Île Cognac,
the French name for Cognac Island.
L'ÎLE COGNAC
We know that a voyage to l’Île Cognac means leaving the mainland behind. A copper and black aluminum tray with a glass plate on top rises just over three feet above the ground. On it, three crystal decanters transport the cognac like immense 500 ml (16.6 fl. oz.) and 700 ml (23.7 fl. oz.) balloons. They are moved by three propellerdriven pods bearing three crystal glasses suspended above the feet of the table, which in turn hold a box with six tasting glasses. The box contains three different types of glasses to turn three distinctive tasting experiences into a ritual.

Taste profile
Profile
Power. An exuberance amplified by numerous spices: cumin, clove, cinnamon, and black pepper. Flowers are also present - iris and lilacs; and finally citrus - orange and lemon ; to match the symphony of the spices.
Taste profile
Nose
The distinguished first note is heady, unhesitatingly delivering its deep, nuanced character, the heart of which is a blend of four exquisite cognacs. Minerality and fruitiness come to the fore in the second nose, the signature aromatic intensity of Borderies.
Taste profile
Palate
With a lively, spirited approach, the palate matches the nose. It glides over notes of mocha and melted prune before diving into the rancio of a fully rounded Grande Champagne cognac. The Bons Bois and Folle Blanche indulgently prolong a finale formed of notes of dark chocolate and cashew nut.
This cognac takes us on an exceptional journey through lush vegetation, teeming with trees and flowers. This exceptional cognac is composed of four batches specifically selected by our Cellar master, Julie Landreau, for their remarkable characteristics: a Borderies cru cognac made entirely from Ugni Blanc grapes, two Bons Bois cognacs made from 100% Folle Blanche grapes, and a 65-year-old Grande Champagne cru cognac.
The Folle Blanche and a Borderies cru eau-de-vie created using Maison Camus’ unique distillation technique are what give this exceptional blend its notes of white flowers, lily of the valley, and violets, which meet with crisp aromas that transport the taster to new heights.
Reveals subtleties
Tulip Glass
The tight opening of this glass captures the subtle, complex notes of rancio and exotic wood. Its slightly flared base provides balance for the notes of grilled dried fruits.
Full intensity
Tumbler Glass
Its wide opening and vertical sides disperse its aromas and the main elements of the Folle Blanche’s aromatic palate to the fore: pear, vine peach, and white flowers.
Pure indulgence
Closed Tulip Glass
When closed, the Tulip showcases the aromatic singularity of Borderies crus: notes of compote vanilla, and flowers, followed by fruity notes of clementine, orange, and apricot.
