How to make an intense Negroni?

The great classic revisited with our "Camus Twist".

Every summer is punctuated by the moments we long for. A lingering lunch, an afternoon by the pool, a sunset with loved ones, or an evening that stretches into the night.

Each of these moments deserves its cocktail, but not just any cocktail. Each of our "Camus Twists" reveals a new expression of a great classic and naturally finds its place in these moments of life.

The Negroni by Camus ideally accompanies The Golden Hour. With CAMUS Special Dry, a touch of cherry syrup, and balance of bitterness, freshness, and indulgence, it reveals its full personality as the sun begins to set. This particular light transforms landscapes, slows down conversations, and reminds us that the most beautiful moments are often the most fleeting.

A great classic born in Florence

The story of the Negroni begins in Florence, at the beginning of the 20th century. Legend has it that Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender to revisit his usual Americano by replacing the sparkling water with a more intense spirit.

The result has become one of the most iconic cocktails in mixology. Behind its apparent simplicity lies a subtle balance of bitterness, sweetness, and freshness that continues to inspire bartenders worldwide, more than a century after its creation.

💡Did you know?

The Negroni is one of the rare cocktails whose popularity continues to grow. For several years, it has been among the most ordered drinks in cocktail bars around the world, appealing to both lovers of great classics and new generations of mixology enthusiasts.

The elegance of a great classic

  • The Negroni captivates with its character.
  • Italian bitter adds an elegant bitterness that structures the cocktail.
  • Red vermouth reveals a beautiful aromatic richness.
  • Orange zest brings a fragrant freshness.

Each ingredient naturally finds its place. It is this harmony that makes the Negroni a great classic.

When cognac reveals a new expression

Our "Camus Twist" is based on two choices:

  • The first is CAMUS Special Dry. Its naturally fruity, spicy, and slightly vanilla notes bring more depth while retaining the elegant character of the Negroni.
  • The second is a touch of cherry syrup. Delicately measured, it extends the red fruits of the cognac, brings a subtle roundness, and slightly softens the bitterness without ever losing its character.

The right moves, step by step

Chill the glass
Fill an Old Fashioned glass with ice cubes for a few minutes so it's perfectly cold by the time you serve.

Assemble the ingredients
Pour directly into the glass:

  • 4 cl CAMUS Special Dry
  • 2 cl Italian bitter
  • 2 cl red vermouth
  • 0.5 cl cherry syrup

Then add large ice cubes.

Stir gently
Stir gently for about fifteen seconds to chill the cocktail while preserving its balance.

Serve
Peel an orange zest over the glass to release its essential oils. Your intense Negroni is ready to be enjoyed.

The details that make all the difference
  • Use large ice cubes to limit dilution.
  • Choose freshly cut orange zest.
  • Precisely measure the cherry syrup: a few drops are enough to underpin our "Camus Twist".
  • Stir slowly to preserve the entire aromatic structure of the cocktail.
The best pairings of summer

This Negroni pairs wonderfully with:

  • aged Pata Negra ham
  • aged Parmesan cheese
  • black olives
  • grilled mushrooms
  • or a few squares of dark chocolate.

The "Camus Twist" of The Golden Hour

Our "Camus Twist" makes this Negroni the ideal cocktail for The Golden Hour. The cherry syrup brings a subtle sweetness that naturally speaks with the citrus, spicy notes, and bitterness of the cocktail. Like the golden light that precedes dusk, it reveals nuances that one only notices by taking the time to appreciate them. Colors become warmer, conversations deeper, and time seems to slow down, just before the evening begins.

Because some sunsets simply deserve to be savored a little longer.
