The music rises, glasses lift, and the night's energy carries through until the early hours...

A cocktail turned nightlife iconNightclub, people dancing in red blue club lights

The Espresso Martini is one of the most recent creations in contemporary mixology. It was born in London in the 1980s, when bartender Dick Bradsell crafted a cocktail blending coffee and spirits at the request of a customer who wanted a drink that could "wake her up."

Its balance of freshness, intensity and indulgence quickly made it a favorite in bars around the world. Today, it accompanies those nights when conversation gradually gives way to music, when you order one last cocktail… only to realize the night is really just getting started.

💡Did you know?

The Espresso Martini has seen a remarkable surge in popularity over the past several years and now ranks among the most popular cocktails in the world. Its pairing of coffee and spirits appeals equally to classic cocktail lovers and newer generations of drinkers.

The intensity of a great classic

  • The Espresso Martini captivates through its balance.
  • Espresso brings power and freshness.
  • Coffee liqueur extends the indulgent roasted notes.
  • Bitter cocoa, delicately dusted in a clover shape, adds a subtle chocolatey bitterness that naturally converses with the aromas of coffee and cognac.
  • The foam reveals the cocktail's full aromatic richness from the very first sip.

When cognac reveals a new expression

Our « Camus Twist » rests on two choices.

  • The first is CAMUS Special Dry. Its naturally fruity, vanilla and lightly spiced notes bring an aromatic depth that pairs perfectly with the flavors of coffee.
  • The second is a touch of vanilla syrup. Measured with care, it extends the cognac's indulgent notes and adds more roundness without concealing the freshness of the espresso. The cocktail gains in elegance while retaining all its intensity.

Step by step

A dark espresso martini with a creamy foam top is served in a martini glass against a dramatic blue and burgundy background. Vanilla pods and a white vanilla flower are placed at the base of the glass. The text reads “THE ELECTRIC NIGHT” at the top and “ESPRESSO MARTINI BY CAMUS” at the bottom.

1. Chill the glass

Fill a Martini glass with ice for a few minutes so it's perfectly chilled by the time you serve it.

2. Assemble the ingredients

Pour into a shaker:

  • 5 cl CAMUS Special Dry
  • 3 cl freshly brewed espresso
  • 2 cl coffee liqueur
  • 0.5 cl vanilla syrup

Then add a generous amount of ice.

3. Shake with energy

Shake vigorously for about fifteen seconds.

This step is essential: it chills the cocktail perfectly and creates the smooth, velvety foam that's the signature of a great Espresso Martini.

4. Serve

Remove the ice that was chilling your glass.

Strain the cocktail gently.

Using a stencil, sift a little bitter cocoa powder over the foam and add 4 coffee beans.

Your striking Espresso Martini is ready to enjoy.

The details that make all the difference

  • Prepare your espresso just before making the cocktail.
  • Shake long enough to achieve a dense, silky foam.
  • Use large ice cubes to control dilution.
  • Measure the vanilla syrup precisely: just a few drops are enough for our «Camus Twist» signature.

The finest summer pairings

This Espresso Martini pairs beautifully with:

  • a chocolate fondant
  • a tiramisu
  • roasted hazelnuts
  • a red berry tart
  • or a few squares of dark chocolate
