CAMUS COGNAC DARK & STORMY (70cl - 40%)

Welcome to a cognac like no other, born of man’s patience and Nature’s impetuousness. A cognac of highly distinctive maritime character that can only be produced when nature is at its most temperamental.
Situated in the westernmost part of the Cognac region, the Island of Ré is composed of calcareous and sandy soils naturally enriched in salt by centuries of fertilization with seaweed from the surrounding Atlantic ocean.
In very rare occasions a great storm will bring the ocean water inland, all the way to the vineyards and temporarily saturating the soil in salt and minerals. Grapes harvested in such year will produce a cognac of extraordinary maritime typicity.
Incorporating in its blend cognacs distilled following the great storm of 2010, CAMUS Dark & Stormy brings you a one-of-a-kind sensory experience, one that can only be created a very few times each century.

COGNAC CAMUS DARK & STORMY TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Rich and salty, in a lively and crisp maritime style.

PALATE: Crisp, with a natural climb towards rich mineral notes.

FINISH: Smooth, with fine briny notes.

PERFECT SERVES

• Maturation: Wide-grained French oak cask (capacity 400 litres) then passage in reheated barrels in cooperage

• Terroir: Bois à terroir - Soil: mixture of sand, limestone and clay

• Grape varieties: Ugni Blanc (possible presence of Colombard)

• Ageing: 4 years old for the youngest lots in the blend, and part of the blend is from the 2010 harvest

• Tasting: Ambient temperature (20°) or on ice or possibility of placing the bottle in the freezer before consumption

The carbon footprint is the result of the global eco-design approach undertaken since 2021. This approach aims to reduce the environmental impact of each product designed by CAMUS based on a simplified Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) calculated on the entire life cycle of the product and on 6 environmental indicators, including the greenhouse gas indicator. Value calculated for a 70cl reference.
